Christian Message Through Art, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational organization, was established to assist in the raising and distribution of funds for the traveling exhibit of “The Life of Christ Series” and has staged performances based on these paintings. This exhibit, consisting of 25 life-sized oil-on-canvas paintings, began its travels December 31, 1999 and has inspired others to write poems, create music, and choreograph liturgical dances. “The Life of Christ Series” traveled to various locations around the United States, opening the week before Christmas 2000 at the Cannon House Office Rotunda in Washington, D.C., celebrating the 2000th birthday of Jesus of Nazareth.
In 1980, artist Wendy T. Wallace received a vision which inspired the 25 paintings reproduced in “The Life of Christ: Experience the Story”. Her paintings bring to life Jesus’ story, historically and visually from the moment the shepherds first heard about his birth through His Ascension into heaven. Accomplished author and revered professor of generations of divinity students, Dr. James M. Efird, Biblical Interpretive Scholar Emeritus from Duke University, enriches the meaning of these inspirational windows into the life of Christ. Dr. Efird’s writings appear with each painting and provide insights into the political, social, and everyday life of Jesus who brought the world a faith based on love.
